I driven toward a career that serves other people. I started my career after college as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. I worked critical care, both with adults at OHSU and the Veterans Hospital as well as children at Doernbecher Childrens Hospital. I feel serving others one of the most important things a person can do in their life. That "servants heart" has translated into my love for decorating. "I believe that families need to feel comfortable and safe in their home to then have the freedom to be themselves. Home needs to be a sanctuary."
After having my three children, I was faced with the choice of going back to work in the medical field or do something else. I decided a career change was in order. When my husband asked me what I WANTED to do as a career, I immediately said interior design! So back to school I went! The kids thought it was great Mom had homework for once! I attended a private design school in Beaverton, OR, Heritage School of Interior Design. Heritage is licensed by The State Board of Education in Salem, OR. I "aced" my 150 question final exam and earned my ICD certification.
I am also an affiliate member of the Interior Design Society.
My most recent project involved a kitchen remodel. I am very insistent on attention to detail. I am there to oversee every detail.
In addition, I have an extensive background with sewing. I have designed and sewn numerous window treatments of various styles. I have also accomplished slipcovering and reupholstering projects.
I am married with three children. Hannah is 13, Jonathan is 9 and Norah is 6. I also enjoy remodeling my own home as well. My husband, Doug, who is an electrial engineer by trade, has turned into my own personal "contractor". I love working on projects with the whole family! Most recently we relandscaped our backyard and had the kids "design" their own vegetable garden.
"My goal as a designer is to help clients translate their ideas and decorating style into a beautiful but functional reality."

Note the accent lighting in the display area. This was just wasted space underneath the stairway. The shallow shelves were just enough to display my clients many collections.
